What Meditation Can Do for Us
1. Relax us, and allow us to return to a quiet, centered, mind space -- a state of inner peace, primal happiness, and natural courage. 2. Bring us back from being spaced-out and lost in thought, to HERE and NOW where all the action is. 3. Allow us to see how our mind works, and see various points of leverage and control that we're blind to unless we see for ourselves how various mind processes function. This is a major part of "Knowing Thyself" -- key advice from the ancient Greeks. 4. Open up the connection between our intellectual and intuitive processes. This facilitates the arising of * personal, psychological insights; * cosmological, existential, meaning-of-life kinds of insights; and * creative insights.
